The surprise birth of Lucas Parker!

I am not sure how to start this because I thought his birth story would be a simple, and short story that would most likely bore you but that is not the case. On Wednesday, Aug 1st (one month exactly from my due date) I went to dinner with some girl friends and fellow bloggers. We met at Panera at 6pm and over the next 2 hours of chatting and laughing I was having contractions. I had gotten so use to them that I didn't pay much attention to them. I headed home around 8pm. On the way home I started to pay attention to them a little more and trying to time them. At that point, they were about 10 minutes apart. When I got home I sat down and watched the Olympics with Matt and the kids. I was still timing them and they were still 10 minutes apart so I headed to bed thinking they were just the everyday contractions I had been having for months now. Around 2 am, I woke up having some pretty intense contractions. I got up and went to the bathroom and laid back down. From then until 5 am I couldn't sleep through them. I finally woke Matt up and told him something was going on. I was not sure what but these contractions were NOT like the ones I had become use too. I called and was told to head to L&D to be checked out. My mom met us at the hospital to get Logan and Abby. While walking into the hospital I had to stop a few times because the contractions were so intense. They were about 6 minutes apart then. We got up to the L&D floor and got all hooked up to monitors.  They started an IV to give me fluids in case I was just dehydrated. After a about an hour my doctor came in and said because my cervix was not changing with them they wanted to put me in a therapeutic sleep to see if the contractions stop or get more intense. I was moved to a regular room and given morphine in my IV and a morphine injection in my right thigh. They told me they would wake me in 4 hours and see if the contractions were gone. They didn't put monitors on me which I thought was weird but didn't say anything. After about 2 hours of not being able to fall asleep because I was still contracting, I asked the nurse to hook me up to the monitors. Within 20 minutes she was back in my room telling me they were going to start prepping me for my c section!

Our sweet boy was born August 2nd (35wks 5days) at 12:53pm weighing 7lb 7oz and 20.75 inches long (he would have been huge if full term). He had to be "jump started" to get him breathing so they had to take him to the NICU. I did get to see him for a few moments before they left with him. Matt went with him and I got stitched up and moved to recovery. Matt came in and told me that Lucas was on a CPAP for his breathing. It was so hard to hear because I felt like if I could have kept him in longer he wouldn't be having a hard time breathing. My little guy surprised us and was off all the breathing stuff within 12 hours of birth. We also found out that he was Coombs Positive like Logan was but we were prepared for that. They had him on 2 lights and were checking his levels every 4 hours. By Sunday he was down to one light and doing amazing. On Monday he was able to come to my room at which point they put him on 3 lights because his levels were still going up slowly.  By the next morning his levels had come down some and he was able to come home!

Logan and Abby love him so much. They love to just sit and watch him sleep and talk about how cute his cheeks are. Our family is now complete and I could not be happier!

I still need to get the "nursery" and his "2 week old" post up but I wanted to share his birth story first!

Friday's letters ~ v2

I am linking up with Ashley @ Adventures of Newlyweds for Friday's Letters! Enjoy!

Dear contractions,
you suck and I wish you would go away. If you are not going to make anything happen (umm, like actual labor) then fluff off!

Dear horrendous heat,
I loathe you and wish you would move on already. Why did you have to pick THIS summer to torture us. I am sure it is because I am 8 months pregnant...sorry everyone, it's my fault!

Dear Chick Fil A,
why must you be so dang good. I would eat there everyday if I could. That Chick Fil A sauce makes everything super yummy!

Dear laundry,
I am glad we have found common ground, as is my hubby!

Dear new blog followers,
Thanks so much for following and I hope you enjoy reading my post. I am enjoying getting to know you all.

Currently ~ v4

Currently I am...

Enjoying these last few weeks of feeling Lucas move around. Knowing this is my last pregnancy is making me savor every little move he makes. It is my favorite part of being pregnant and will miss it once he is finally here.

Indulging in my Georgetown cupcakes! I try to spread the dozen out over a few weeks so I don't feel so guilty about eating them. In less than 5 weeks when this little boy vacates my body I will be back on WW. I can't wait to get back to my pre-pregnant self. I look at pictures from before and get teary eyed. It is all worth it but it is still hard to see the effect pregnancy has on your body.

Learning all I can about cloth diapering. I have a really good stash to get me started and I can't wait to see Lucas in them. I am watching a lot of YouTube videos to get different information from moms out there that have been CDing a long time. I finally decided on a detergent and am hoping to get them all washed this weekend.

Inspired by all the wonderful blog ladies out there! I am having so much fun linking up and building my blog into something wonderful. You ladies are awesome for hosting all these great link up that help get my blog out into the blog world. Thanks so much!

Becoming aware at how much my life is going to change in a few short weeks. Both of the kids will be in school, which will be a big change and then of course there is Lucas' arrival (only 4 more weeks!!!). I am excited and nervous about both. This is a big year for Logan. Third grade is the first year of SOL testing and "real" grading. I know Abby will do fine in Kindergarten. She is beyond ready for it! Then there is adjusting to having a newborn in the house again after almost 6 years. These are all wonderful changes and I will be welcoming them with open arms!

Pregnancy Update ~ 32 weeks!

7 more weeks or 1 month and 18 days or 49 days! Let's just say it is coming up fast. Keeping the kids busy this summer is helping it fly by for me. We got Lucas' dresser on Thursday and Matt put it together last night while I was out for a girls night, so now that I have a place to put his clothes after I wash them. I am still researching what detergent I want to use for the cloth diapers so those will be getting washed soon too!

Also, on the 21st of June Matt went in for his Vasectomy. It went really well and he is doing great now. Since it is not 100% effective for about three months we didn't want to wait till after Lucas was here. When I really think about it, it makes me sad because I know that chapter (having kids) of our life will be over once Lucas is here but I have been given (almost) three wonderful gifts and for that I am truly thankful. Plus, like I have said before and many of you know, pregnancy and my body don't go well together!

How Far Along: 32 weeks

Stretch marks? just the ones from Logan, no new ones.

Movement: Still VERY active and I am savoring every moment of it!

Size of Baby: He measures about 17 inches long (size of a sqaush) and weighs in around 4 pounds. He is in the head down position and getting more and more cramped by the day!

Belly Button in or out? In but flat.

Cravings: COOKIES! I made cookie dough the other day (missed that post check it out here) and it was good but it seems cooked cookie are what I am craving. Kebbler Fudge Shoppe and Chick Fil A's new chocolate chunk are my favorites!

Sleep: Getting rough again but is not to bad since it is summer break and I don't have to get up early. My heartburn and pelvic is what keeps me up.

Sex of Baby: A sweet baby BOY...Lucas Parker!

Best Moment this week: Getting my c section officially scheduled for August 24th at 7:30am...7 more weeks!!

Weight Gain: We will not talk about this! ;)

Symptoms: Back pain, pelvic pain, and awful heartburn. I am taking a Zantac twice a day but having to take 2 Tums about an hour or so before I am due for the Zantac. This little boy better have hair when he comes out! haha

What you are looking forward to: At this point I am just looking forward to meeting our sweet boy!!

Pregnancy Rights

With this being my last pregnancy I am trying to enjoy some of the wonderful aspects of pregnancy. There are not many for me because like I have said before, pregnancy and my body just don't agree but my most favorite has to be feeling this little guy move. His hiccups make me smile so big and my heart just melt. I told Matt last night that the thought of holding this little man in my arms for the first make me get all teary eyed. I remember those moments with Logan and Abby vividly. With a c section you don't get to hold them right away so even the moment when Matt walks over and holds him next to me, all bundles up like the cutest little burrito is the most magical, heart stopping moment of my life!

Oh can the next 10 weeks(yep you read that right, only 10 more weeks) please just fly by!

Ok now the real reason for this blog post...I came across these and just had to share because I love every single one of them. All my mama friends, I think can relate to at least a few if not all of them as well.

10 indisputable rights of pregnant women:

1. She shall have the right to drop something and look around pitifully until someone feels bad enough to come along and pick it up.

2. She has the right to messy toenail polish. This includes the right to get a pedicure to avoid having messy toenail polish. Whether a pregnant woman decides to embrace her right to messy toes or a pedicure is her choice and she shall not be judged.

3. She has the right to spill food on her belly without being mocked.

4. She has the right to lay claim to any food in the house. All others shall assume the last piece of pie or the last serving of cereal has been claimed by this right unless told otherwise.

5. She has the right to waddle. Anyone in the presence of her waddling is restricted from laughing or gawking at said waddling.

6. She has the right to claim “pregnancy brain” at any time.

7. She has the right to moan, groan or grunt when getting out of a chair, rolling over in bed, putting on her shoes or doing any activity that requires shifting her weight.

8. She has the right to claim flip-flops as appropriate footwear under any circumstance.

9. She has the sole rights to the house’s thermostat. Do not question when she has the AC on and it’s 60 degrees outside or if she has the windows open while it’s snowing. Wear extra layers in the house without complaint.

10. She has the right to talk about being “large” or “huge”, but no one else can claim that right. She is the only person allowed to talk about her size.

There are so many more but these are the best in my opinion!

What would you add to the list of the rights of pregnant women?
